Meet the Director:

Jon P. Zurfluh

Jon ZurfluhI arrived in 2011 to become the AAS Director, following my earlier international assignment as Head of School in Shanghai, China. I came to Moscow with my wife, who is a kindergarten teacher here at AAS, and two children, who will graduate in 2016 and 2019 at AAS.

The Anglo-American School of Moscow has a longstanding tradition of providing a diverse and dynamic learning environment empowered by a strong, supportive sense of community. Proven across a 60+ year history and with over 60 nationalities represented, our focus is on personalized approaches that achieve our mission-centered goal of academic and holistic excellence.

I hold strong beliefs in the importance of the unique qualities of each individual child that walks our hallways and classrooms.  As a former Kindergarten teacher, I’m particularly aware of the impact that schooling has on young lives.  More than just working toward school improvement, I’m passionate about the reinvention of school to increasingly work with students in powerful and lasting ways.  Rather than looking for the one-size-fits-all solution, I hold a conviction that systems must be increasingly flexible and responsive to a diverse spectrum of student needs.  I look forward to daily collaboration  and effort towards that realization.
