Zurfluh<\/h1>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.aas.ru\/director\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2013\/10\/Jon-Zurfluh-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Jon Zurfluh\" width=\"158\" height=\"210\" \/>I arrived in 2011 to become\u00a0the AAS Director, following my earlier international assignment as Head of School in Shanghai, China. I came to Moscow with my wife, who is a kindergarten teacher here at AAS, and two children, who will graduate in 2016 and 2019\u00a0at AAS.<\/p>\n<p>The Anglo-American School of Moscow has a longstanding tradition of providing a diverse and dynamic learning environment empowered by a strong, supportive sense of community. Proven across a 60+ year history and with over 60 nationalities represented, our focus is on personalized approaches that achieve our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aas.ru\/mission\">mission-centered<\/a>\u00a0goal of academic and holistic excellence.<\/p>\n<p>I hold strong beliefs in the importance of the unique qualities of each individual child that walks our hallways and classrooms. \u00a0As a former Kindergarten teacher, I&#8217;m particularly aware of the impact that schooling has on young lives. \u00a0More than just working toward school improvement, I&#8217;m passionate about the reinvention of school to increasingly work with students in powerful and lasting ways. \u00a0Rather than looking for the one-size-fits-all solution, I hold a conviction that systems must be increasingly flexible and responsive to a diverse spectrum of student needs. \u00a0I look forward to daily collaboration \u00a0and effort towards that realization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meet the Director: Jon P.
