{"id":287,"date":"2014-12-03T22:33:10","date_gmt":"2014-12-03T18:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.aas.ru\/kze\/?p=287"},"modified":"2014-12-03T22:33:10","modified_gmt":"2014-12-03T18:33:10","slug":"week-december-1-december-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zimplicity.hopto.org\/emily\/2014\/12\/03\/week-december-1-december-5\/","title":{"rendered":"For the week of December 1 to December 5&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<strong>Unit of Inquiry:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the past six weeks, KZE students had many opportunities to inquire into how communities provide services designed to meet people&#8217;s needs.\u00a0 \u00a0As we wrap up the &#8220;Community&#8221; unit this week,\u00a0students reflected on what they had\u00a0learned\u00a0on the topic.\u00a0 Here are some of the highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>People need a community to live in so that they can have different services nearby. &#8211; Max<\/li>\n<li>People need food.\u00a0 If they don&#8217;t have food, they will die. &#8211; Fatima<\/li>\n<li>We need jacket because when it is cold outside, the jacket will keep us warm. &#8211; Freddie<\/li>\n<li>We need water to drink so that we won&#8217;t die. &#8211; Safiya<\/li>\n<li>We need trees so we can breath. &#8211; Charlie<\/li>\n<li>We need different services in our community.\u00a0 &#8211; Hannes<\/li>\n<li>We learned that we need to plan when we built our model community. &#8211; Daisy<\/li>\n<li>We learned that we should work as a team when we made our model community. &#8211; Emerson<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Sharing our published &#8220;True Stories&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\nFor the past two weeks, KZE students practiced writing &#8220;true stories&#8221;. They tried to think of something that happened or that they did. Next, they told what<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.aas.ru\/kze\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2014\/12\/kaymbu-image-20141204-1214.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-437\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.aas.ru\/kze\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2014\/12\/kaymbu-image-20141204-1214-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"kaymbu-image-20141204-1214\" width=\"184\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a> happened with pictures and words. We reminded ourselves that we should always try to tell WHO is in the story, WHERE the story takes place, and WHAT is happening. \u00a0We practiced telling the story in a storyteller\u2019s voice and used speech bubbles to remember what people said. They were very proud to share their published books with their reading buddies. GO KZE writers!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math &#8211; 3D shapes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.aas.ru\/kze\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2014\/12\/kaymbu-image-20141204-1215.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-438\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.aas.ru\/kze\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2014\/12\/kaymbu-image-20141204-1215-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"kaymbu-image-20141204-1215\" width=\"179\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a>During math, we reviewed some basic two dimensional shapes before introducing basic three dimensional shapes including cone, cuboid, pyramid, cylinder, cube, and sphere.
