Personal inquiry in KZE…

The following video document part of the inquiry cycle that KZE students went through during their personal inquiry journey. One day, Ms. Tasha read us the story of “How to Catch a Star” by Oliver Jeffers. After the story, through discussions, individual questions emerged. These wonders motivated students to go into deeper investigation. They came up with a plan/strategy to try to find out answers, they adjusted their thinking after trying, they presented their findings proudly. After reflection, they all agreed that they enjoyed the process. They became more confident on finding out more unknowns. They are very excited about where their next inquiry journey will take them.

  1. I’m so impressed with your work on this inquiry! I had to watch the whole video because I was so excited about the topic and how your understanding of it grew and developed. You did a wonderful job of exploring resources (books and internet). And I could see in your faces that you were really enjoying the discovery!! You loved doing this, didn’t you? Keep on exploring. I’m sure there are many more questions waiting for your inquiry!!!

  2. Dear KZE,
I loved hearing your questions and wonderings about how to catch a star. I noticed that many of you knew a lot about stars. I was interested to see that people had lots of different ideas and theories about where stars come from and how they exist.

I liked how you did lots of research to try and find answers to your questions. My favourite part of your inquiry is that all your research and discussion led to …. even more questions!

I think it is important to keep asking questions -that is how you keep learning! : )
